Bismillah Ir-Rahman Ir-Raheem
As-salaamu Alaykum Wa'rahmatullahi Wa'barakatuh
A perfect wedding day is every woman's dream. It requires extensive planning, dedication, time and expenses to perfect the big day. The bride in her bridal dress looks as elegant and stunning as ever, leaving her with fond memories of her special day.
However, our question is what happens to her bridal dress? More often than not it's packed away, stored and forgotten. Since a bridal dress is only ever worn once, it is of no further use to the bride. It is uncommon to pass the garment onto a family member or friends, as each woman desires her own new tailored bridal dress.
Most brides spend hundreds to thousands of pounds on bridal outfits. Our aim is to offer anyone the opportunity to donate their unwanted or unused bridal dresses to brides in India who are less fortunate and cannot afford the luxuries of a wedding day insha'Allah. By doing this we wish to provide them an opportunity to experience the happiness and joy that we take for granted ..
Interested in our concept? Why not take a look at our 'How We Work' page and help us to contribute towards making someone's wedding day special!
In April 2008, Ummah Welfare Trust (UWT) initiated a project to fund wedding days for people in India who do not have the financial means to pay for a wedding. Our aim is to collaborate with this project by asking for both financial donations and bridal gowns which can be sent to anyone who cannot otherwise afford a bridal dress for their big day.
Members of UWT have identified regions where assistance is most needed. Our team work closely with UWT to verify the extent of need for each case. If financial need is greater then we will endeavour to sell your bridal dress to specifically fund the wedding. Otherwise the bridal dress will be presented to the bride. Ultimately you will have contributed towards the completion of a successful wedding.
Furthermore we encourage the new bride to share the blessings and pass on dresses to others in need. In this case, your donation could be making not one, but many dreams come true!
The Messenger of Allah (sall'Allahu alayhi wa'sallam) said: "None of you truly believes until he loves for his brother what he loves for himself." [al-Bukhari & Muslim]
We all have things we want. We want the perfect wedding day, the perfect dress and everything to go with it. In most cases, we are lucky to get all of those 'wants'. However, there are others who do not even have the means for a simple wedding.. Those who see the wisdom in the above mentioned hadith will realise that there are so many blessings and rewards for wanting the same for our brothers and sisters in Islam. So why not share your blessings, and help yourself by helping others. None of us can account for spending lavish amounts for that one special day, but why not share some of the blessings that Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala has bestowed upon you with those that are less fortunate, instead of stowing away those thousand pound dresses for sentimental value.
Our ethics and code of practice comply with Islamic law. The brothers and sisters we help conduct their weddings according to the Shariah, and therefore have segregated ceremonies.
This project is in association with Ummah Welfare Trust (UWT) a registered UK international relief and development charity (www.uwt.org
). UWT aims to relieve the suffering of the poor and alleviate poverty across the world. We are fully committed to a 100% donations policy.
All donations made to the UWT wedding fund will go towards the needy as administration overhead costs are funded via investors or through generous donations made specifically for the running of this project.
